Downtown Stowe VT Hotel: Staying At Green Mountain Inn

Stowe is a small charming town in Northern Vermont. It is a popular all-season destination for travelers. Stowe has everything from top ski slopes on Mount Mansfield, and picturesque fall foliage, to world-class recreational activities all year round. If visiting Stowe is on your bucket list, consider staying at Green Mountain Inn in Downtown Stowe, VT.

In this post, I am sharing our family experience at Green Mountain Inn during our trip to explore Stowe’s peak fall foliage.

Downtown Stowe Vermont Hotel: Green Mountain Inn

Green Mountain Inn is located in the heart of Stowe. The location does not get better than this. You are within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, recreational paths, and more.

Once traded as a farm, home to a railroad company’s offices, the site of a grand dance hall, and the regular base for Lowell Thomas Broadcasts, Green Mountain Inn has been renovated many times to meet the traveler’s need. However, you can still easily spot its cozy historical touches blended with modern comfort.

The hotel welcomes guests of all ages and offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Rooms

Green Mountain Inn has no shortage of accommodations to choose from. Pick your ideal room or suite to best accommodate your family’s needs. When we first arrived and looked at the porch from the main street, I had no idea that the hotel offered resort-style grounds on the other side. Eight separate buildings are equipped with unique rooms, elegant suites, and luxurious village apartments.

Like many other rooms at Green Mountain Inn, our Luxury Room was so big! It had a comfortable king bed, fireplace, and a fireside jacuzzi—a perfect setup for a relaxing stay.

The Mansfield building where our room was located had the standard guest living room equipped with a cozy fireplace, couches, and a chess table.

Since there are several separate buildings, we felt much privacy and enjoyed the standard living room a few times by ourselves.

Hotel Meals

When staying at the Green Mountain Inn, you do not have to worry about breakfast or dinner. While it is highly recommended that you explore other meal options in downtown Stowe, VT, Green Mountain Inn offers ideal breakfast and dinner options in-house.

Breakfast

Breakfast is offered at “18 Main”. Here you can enjoy the classic Vermont atmosphere with a cozy fireplace, antique watercolor paintings, and other classic touches.

The menu has a variety of options. However, you will not go wrong with Vermont country breakfast. Freshly baked muffins, pastries, and the special oat bread.

After breakfast and outdoor activities, check back in the afternoon for complimentary tea/coffee/apple cider drinks and freshly baked sweets in the lobby. They were delicious.

Dinner

In addition to breakfast, Green Mountain Inn offers casual dining at charming Whip Grill. You will find a cozy atmosphere and comforting food, including homemade bread and delicious desserts.

While the menu was very satisfying, I was most impressed with the kids’ menu. Their menu included other healthy food options, including grilled salmon and turkey with vegetables. If you are a parent, you know how hard it is to read something else on kids’ menus than chicken tenders, mac n cheese, or fries.

While there is no need to make a reservation for breakfast if you are a hotel guest, it is highly recommended that you make your dinner reservations. The place was bustling during our visit since it was peak foliage, so reserve your spot a few days ahead.

Amenities

Whether you are visiting Green Mountain Inn to stay during your outdoor adventures or you are just looking to relax, there are enough amenities that the hotel offers to guests of all ages.

Besides two in-house restaurants, Green Mountain Inn has a heated all-year-round pool and in-ground jacuzzi. We could not take a dip due to the short time here, but I checked it out, and it looked fantastic.

What we enjoyed the most was their two outdoor fire pits! One was located just across our building, and another one was near the restaurant and pool. We had a blast roasting smores and hanging out by it after our outdoor adventures. We even skipped the restaurant dinner once and grabbed a few grocery items across the street to have a peaceful family time by the fire pit.

In addition, Green Mountain Inn offers guests in-house massage services, a fitness room, and a kid-friendly game room.

Downtown Stowe, VT: Other Places to Eat

I love when hotels have meal options, but I also like checking out meals outside the hotels. You can find some incredible places to eat in Stowe, Vermont, and I highly recommend checking out at least a few of them! From casual to elegant, family style to classic, there is no shortage of restaurants.

Cafe on Main – If you are on the go and need to grab something quick and delicious, head over to Cafe on Main. You will find everything here: salads, soups, sandwiches, and a bakery!

Skinny Pancake – A must-try! This popular breakfast spot is just a small drive away from Green Mountain Inn. The place offers a variety of sweet and savory crepes. The reservations are highly recommended, especially during busy seasons.

Piecasso – Head over to Piecasso’s for a casual, family-friendly Pizza Restaurant. We had two different pies of pizzas, and they were both delicious. We also recommend trying their mushroom gnocchi!

Our environment matters to us, and eco-friendly hotels get all our attention. Green Mountain Inn will undoubtedly check all your boxes if you like a quality hotel stay but also care about sustainability. The hotel implements its practices in every phase of its operations. They are using green cleaners, in-room recycling, producing local products, and more.
