Are you planning your first trip to Florence, Italy, and wondering where to stay? While there are many accommodation options in Florence, finding the right place is essential.

We stayed at Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti in the city center of Florence, Italy, and our experience was incredible.

This boutique hotel combines historic charm with modern comforts. Imagine waking up to views of Piazza Santissima Annunziata, one of Florence’s most beautiful squares.

In this post, I share everything you need about staying at Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti and tips on nearby attractions.

The Hotel and Location

The Loggiato Dei Serviti is a historic boutique hotel housed in an elegant 15th-century building in the center of Florence. It is situated on Piazza Santissima Annunziata, one of Florence’s most picturesque squares.

The opposite of it is you can admire Brunelleschi’s Spedale degli Innocenti, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.

When staying here, you are only steps away from some famous sights, such as the Florence Cathedral (Duomo), Marco Museum, or the Accademia Gallery (Home of Michelangelo’s David).

While the hotel is centrally located, the Piazza is far enough away from the crowds and tourists, which was a nice perk.

The minute you enter the hotel, you’ll be transported to the Renaissance era, surrounded by antique furniture and authentic period details.

Our check-in was speedy and smooth. The front desk answered every question and helped us carry our bags to our suite.

Rooms

The Loggiato Dei Serviti offers a variety of unique rooms in Standard, Deluxe, and Family suite categories. Each room is furnished with carefully selected antique pieces, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere.

All rooms have essential amenities such as WIFI, Satellite TV, Air conditioning, a safe, and a minibar.

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite, ideal for our family of four. They also provided a baby crib upon our request.

Make sure to request any extra beds before arrival to make sure they have them available.

We loved everything about our suite, especially the spacious rooms, which are very unusual in Europe. Everything was clean and tidy; we loved the comfortable mattress and pillows.

Outside our suite was a separate living area that created the ambiance of an actual historic Florentine residence.

Activities

While the hotel doesn’t have a dedicated play area or activities, it compensates with its prime location.

After long days of exploring, we would come by our quaint hotel square, where kids would play. They even made friends here while playing soccer with other kids.

Suppose you are looking for recommendations or assistance with nearby activities. In that case, the hotel concierge can help you arrange fun activities for you and your family.

On-Site Breakfast Restaurant

Loggiato dei Serviti provides a complimentary breakfast every morning in a charming breakfast room to start your day.

We enjoyed a delicious buffet spread with options suitable for kids. Freshly baked pastries, eggs, sausages, cheeses, cereals, fruits, and refreshments are available to fuel you for a day of sightseeing.

Breakfast is open from 7:15 to 10 AM, which is very convenient if you plan to start your days as early as we did.

We even packed our breakfast during our day trip to Pisa and Cinque Terre, saving us much time.

For other meals, the hotel’s cafe offers light snacks and refreshments throughout the day. You can grab a quick bite here with your children before heading out to explore Florence.

Nearby Family Dining

Steps from the hotel, you’ll discover family-friendly restaurants in the historic center. Many local eateries welcome kids with open arms and offer children’s menus.

Our favorite place to eat near our hotel was at Ricordi’s. We loved the perfect location, lovely staff, and extensive menu selection with kid-friendly options, which was perfect for our family.

Other authentic restaurant recommendations by the hotel:

  • Trattoria dall’Oste for a pure Florentine steak experience. Make sure to reserve ahead of time. We tried making the same-day reservation, but it was already all booked.
  • Nuti for freshly made pasta. They have a show cooking on the window.
  • Accademia restaurant is just around the corner from the hotel and offers a great family-friendly dining experience with an extensive menu selection.
  • Cantinetta delle Terme for Tuscan pasta, grills & seafood, and local wines in a cozy dining room.

Gelaterias

Gelato is an essential dessert in Florence! Many great gelaterias are around, like Badiani, Gelateria de’ Medici, and Perchè No, but we had the best gelato at the Gelateria La Carraia. You must walk about 20 minutes from the hotel to get here, but it is worth it!
