Mohonk Mountain House Day Passes: Which One is Right for you?
Thinking of visiting Mohonk Mountain House for a day, but unsure which day pass to choose? With options like hiking, dining, and spa day access, you may need help breaking all of them down to decide which one is right for you. That is precisely what I am going to help you with based on my personal experiences!
Mohonk Mountain House is a historic Victorian-style castle and the most picturesque Hudson Valley resort in New Paltz, spanning 40,000 acres. It offers beautiful grounds and surroundings, along with various rejuvenating experiences.
We recently stayed overnight with our kids at Mohonk Mountain House, but there is no denying it comes with a higher price tag. We primarily use day passes to visit this beautiful property and enjoy the grounds, activities, and amenities, which we believe are worth the price.

Mohonk Mountain House Day Passes Overview
Hiking Day Pass
One of the most budget-friendly day pass options at the Mohonk Mountain House is the hiking day pass, available year-round but subject to availability.
Price: This Pass is $35 for adults (ages 13+) and $30 for children (ages 4-12). It lets you enjoy 85 miles of trails and choose any difficulty.

You can choose from many trails, but a few of our favorites exist. One of them is leading the Sky Top Tower.

The Sky Top Tower trail is a 1.6-mile loop near New Paltz, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it starts directly from the parking lot and passes the resort before reaching the top.

The historic stone tower offers breathtaking views of the Shawangunk Ridge and the surrounding Hudson Valley.

Another trail that we loved and did before little travelers joined: the Labyrinth and Lemon Squeeze trail.
The Labyrinth is a unique, challenging, and adventurous 1.0-mile hike that involves navigating through narrow crevices and rock scrambles. It culminates in stunning panoramic views from the Sky Top Tower. We often hiked this trail before two little hikers joined our adventures.

Is the Mohonk Mountain House Hiking Day Pass Worth it?
A hiking day pass at Mohonk is worth it if we are just up for a beautiful hike without anything extra.
Our kids enjoy it, but I cannot speak for others. There is a good amount of walking involved.
Note: The trail to the Sky Top Tower is well-paved and stroller-friendly. The stroller was a lifesaver as our one-year-old napped in it on our way back.
The only disadvantage, I would say, is the Parking lot location for the Hiking day pass. It is pretty far from the Mohonk house.
While it is easy to hike up to Mohonk, kids can get somewhat tired, and we end up carrying them, which can be inconvenient if you decide to visit with small kids. Once, we even hiked down during heavy rain and got all soaked.
Also, remember that a hiking pass does not provide access to food. Either plan to pack your lunch or stop at a restaurant in New Paltz on your way back.

A dining day pass at Mohonk Mountain House is the most convenient and value-oriented option. With this Pass, you can access all the hiking trails, have a dining experience, and park by the hotel.

Is the Mohonk Mountain Dining Day Guest Pass Worth it?
This is the most convenient and hassle-free day guest pass option for the family. It lets you spend a whole day without worrying about cars parked too far away or about packing a lunch—especially if you’re visiting with kids.
Yes, it is pricier than hiking, but we love to treat ourselves to this day pass occasionally. We loved exploring the property, hanging out on the porch, and dining in their beautiful dining room with a view.
