Location
Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is only 25 minutes away from San Juan airport and is situated at Condado Beach. Condado district is known for its most expensive beachfront real estate. When walking on the streets, I could not stop thinking how much this area resembled Miami beach. Condado beach attracts everyone from celebrities, families with kids, and couples.
The ocean is only steps away from Condado Vanderbilt Hotel. You may enjoy lounging on a public beach or the private beach which is accessible for hotel guests only. Lounges and towels are included in your stay and hotel personnel are always there to help if you need anything extra.
Although the views are unbeatable, keep in mind that swimming in the ocean may not be ideal for everyone. There are big waves, rip currents, and a strong underflow most days.
Condado Vanderbilt Hotel: Highlights
Condado Vanderbilt Hotel’s design has been reconstructed piece by piece into its rich Spanish revival architecture and is currently the top luxury hotel throughout Puerto Rico. Can you believe $220 million was spent to redesign this property?! Woah!
The resort features four different pools. There are two small pools closer to the beach, the main pool located by the bar and restaurant, and an infinity pool with stunning ocean views located right next to it. We mostly hang out in the main pool, which was the most family-friendly.
You will also find multiple lounges and restaurants on-site. Ranging from casual to fancy. While we wanted to check out all their on-site restaurants, between exploring the city and doing activities, we basically did not have enough time.
Our go-to restaurant during our stay at Condado Vanderbilt Resort was Ola Oceanfront Bistro. This is a great option for quick poolside meals or families traveling with kids. Here you must try the artisan pizza! The best on the menu. We definitely had other favorites such as salmon benedict and frenchtoast.
Keep in mind that room service may have other meal options that are not included on this restaurant’s menu. This is how we ordered Matthew his pasta.
Rooms
There are multiple room selections for you. If you want to stay a little on budget, skip the suits and choose between Heritage and Tower Rooms. Heritage rooms overlook the San Juan and Condado area while Tower Rooms have a Partial Ocean view. We chose the latest and loved the sound of the ocean at night!
Activities
In addition to indulging yourself in hotel pools and restaurants, the resort offers multiple spa treatments in its dedicated spa space.
There is a cute waterfront walkway just 5 minutes away from the resort. We loved watching the sunset here.
You may also book excursions through the resort concierge. It is recommended that you do that before arrival but check if they still have something available during your stay. We would highly recommend the El Younque tour as well as Bio Bay!
Family Friendly
Condado Vanderbilt is family and kid-friendly. This resort is more on a quiet side than ones that have slides and a waterpark in it. If you are looking for that type of fun, you may end up in the wrong place. This is a great place to experience luxury Caribbean life while also hanging out with kids.
What is most important we felt safe staying at Condado Vanderbilt hotel. Traveling post-pandemic got us a bit nervous about choosing a hotel but we can surely say this resort was very strict about wearing masks, social distancing, and curfew hours. The overall cleanness was also very satisfying.
