Turks & Caicos with Kids
Short Flight
Providenciales International Airport (PLS) makes it easy for International travelers to arrive in Providenciales (Provo). The major US cities such as New York, Boston, and Philadelphia are less than 4 hours away, which makes the trip incredibly convenient if you are traveling with young children and are looking for a short flight destination from east coast cities in the USA.
How to Get Around in Turks and Caicos With Kids
There is no public transportation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The most cost-effective way is to get around with a taxi or car rental. We highly recommend renting a car unless you plan to spend the entire vacation at the resort.
If you have minors who still need a car seat, request it from the rental company well in advance or bring your own if you do not mind it.
If you rent a car, note that you will be driving on the left side of the road since turks and Caicos is a British territory. Another thing to note is that there are no stoplights throughout the country. The traffic is regulated through the use of roundabouts.
Turks and Caicos is a family-friendly Destination.
Turks and Caicos is a very family-friendly destination. Regardless of its reputation that TCI is for the rich or celebrities, you can get some fantastic deals with good budget planning in my Turks and Caicos Travel Guide.
Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales has tremendous family-friendly resorts equipped with all the amenities and activities for the family. And some even offer kids’ clubs. I would say this was the top kid-friendly place we have been to.
Where to stay in Turks and Caicos with kids
Grace bay beach on Providenciales island is the most desirable location to stay in turks and Caicos with kids. with its extensive selection of hotels and resorts; you will find something that works best for you and your family.

Family Resorts in Turks and Caicos
While all-inclusive resorts are convenient for most families who visit turks and Caicos with kids, there are smaller options for those who love more unique styles and fewer crowds.
Seven Stars resort – Luxury kid-friendly resort
are you looking for a high-end family-friendly hotel in Turks and Caicos? Seven Stars Resort is one of the top options. With its two-bedroom suites with a kitchen and a balcony designed for families, your stay will be so comfortable. Did I mention that the resort is in the center of grace bay beach? You will be only steps away from restaurants and shops.
As a bonus, you can save money on eating outside and get your groceries delivered directly to your hotel room.
With all the hotel amenities, pools, spa, fitness center, and tennis courts, seven resort and spa also offers babysitting services. A great bonus for parents is to have some kid-free time.
Windsong on the Reef
This is the hotel we chose to stay, and we loved everything about it. Unlike other resorts, this resort is relatively more minor, with only 50 rooms. However, it offers suits for families, and the size is generous.
We chose this hotel because of its location. The bright reef, also called the “coral gardens,” is a popular snorkeling spot on grace bay and is precisely in front of the hotel.
Staying here is recommended for families who love snorkeling or want to introduce the underwater world to their kids.

The Palms Turks and Caicos
If you like smaller boutique hotels rather than big resorts, with a luxurious touch and kid-friendly, palms turks and Caicos is a great place to splurge.
This hotel is one of the kid-friendly places because of its kid’s club, where kids are accepted above four years.
Kids activities on Providenciales
Besides resort activities, there are many other off-resort things for the entire family, such as excursions, horseback riding at the beach, semi-submarine tours, snorkeling, kayaking, and more.
Horseback riding
Horseback riding is one of the top activities in Providenciales. While there is an age requirement for tour agencies, this is one of the must-dos if you have older kids who love adventures. The local stables can accommodate all skill levels, making the activity perfect for children and families—one of the top unique activities on Providenciales. We highly advise booking your reservation well before visiting the Turks and Caicos, as the island’s stables are small and limited.
Semi-Submarine experience
For those traveling with smaller kids who cannot yet snorkel or scuba dive, a semi-submarine tour is a fantastic way to see the beautiful reefs and ocean life in Turks and Caicos. There is also an option to choose a glass bottom boat activity, but semi-submarine will be the best way to see underwater life.
We were so glad to book this tour with our 2-year-old. The glass window showed him sea turtles, stingrays, and sharks.
There are a couple of tours in Providenciales that offer semi-submarine. If you go for the undersea explorer, you will be surprised by a unique mermaid encounter. How cool!
Are your kids adventurous (and old enough) to go?
If you do not mind a splurge, try one of the private charter tours for unforgettable family time.
Snorkeling in Turks & Caicos
Snorkeling is a must activity in Turks and Caicos for adults and kids! If you stay at the grace bay beach resorts, most will offer kids snorkeling gear that we found excellent. Our son has so much exploring fish with it.
If you want to do more with kids, sign up for kayak adventures, day trips to iguana island, and charters around the sunset.

Supermarkets in Turks & Caicos
One thing you should be aware of before planning a trip to TCI is that food there is costly. Especially if you are going with kids, your best friend will be groceries and supermarkets to balance. The largest supermarket in Providenciales is the Central Graceway IGA, which offers various everyday products. This makes a great one-spot stop for shoppers who want to stock up on essentials.
Another great option is the Grace Bay Gourmet, located only a few steps from the world-famous grace bay beach. It is famous for its large selection of organic, vegetarian, and gluten-free international brands.
During our visit to Providenciales, we grabbed some groceries and kept them in our hotel fridge; that was very handy! Yogurts, fruits, and snacks to have available for a toddler and us throughout the stay because you do not want to eat out every time!

Cons of visiting Turks and Caicos with kids
Despite the Turks and Caicos being a kid-friendly destination, things can add up and become quite expensive there. It is more costly compared to other Caribbean islands. However, good planning makes it possible to travel to Turks and Caicos with a budget.
Final Thoughts
While Turks and Caicos is not a budget-friendly destination for families, it is indeed kid-friendly! We found TCI the most relaxing and calming trip we have had with our son. I would highly recommend visiting it but start planning your trip a few months to know what to expect and how much you want to set aside.
